Bobcat A solitary species, the bobcat is one of the only wildcats to adapt to urban locations, making them the most common in North America. Look for them at Bear Rocks Preserve. © Kent Mason
Virginia Big-Eared Bat The Virginia big-eared bat has ears that are about an inch long. This species hibernates in caves near oak-hickory forests. You can find them at our Brooklyn Heights Preserve. © Dave Riggs
Northern saw-whet owl on log. The northern saw-whet owl is the smallest owl species native to North America, reaching only seven inches. This species makes a call similar to a saw which explains its name. © Megan Lorenz
